How to Get Involved
Every September, we welcome donor families, transplant recipients and partners to our 5-10K, where we unite to raise awareness of organ donation’s impact on our communities. Sponsors can support hundreds of run/walk participants to hear powerful stories and honor loved ones. The additional support we receive from our sponsors goes towards photo booths, water stations, kids’ care, and more. Inspire more individuals to say “yes” to organ donation! Each year, Donor Network West is proud to host our Spare A Life bowling event in Reno, NV to honor donors and their families with some friendly competition. Your sponsorship provides you with at least one team of four people to bowl and the chance to promote why people should register as organ donors. Part of our mission is to support and provide connection for donor families, donation recipients and their loved ones. One way we do this is through annual Donor Family Ceremonies hosted in California and Nevada. To make these ceremonies special for the families, we seek sponsorships that support everything from hiring translators to contributing to memory books. The Transplant Games of America highlights transplant success through an Olympics-style competition. The gifts we receive from our sponsors turn into financial assistance for team uniforms and travel scholarships for both donor families and transplant recipient athletes in need. What better way to raise awareness of our cause than a float at the Rose Parade? This event reaches 45 million TV viewers nationwide (and 28 million internationally) every year. Our Donate Life community comes together to honor donors and recipients, and share moving stories of organ, eye and tissue donation. One of the best ways to engage a variety of people is through an activity. Our digital learning kiosk helps people learn about organ donation at their own pace and in a unique way while they’re in key locations. A good blanket is like a warm hug, and sometimes that’s just what a person needs to feel reassured. Sponsorships for the Comfort Blanket Program make it possible for organ and tissue donors and their families to receive a blanket during their hospital stays. Often, donor families take their blanket home for continued comfort and as a reminder of the lifesaving gift their loved one gave to others.
In challenging times, it’s the little things that bring us comfort. Our Comfort Kits offers donor families who are at their loved one’s hospital bedside the essentials, including hygiene products and office supplies. Thanks to our sponsors, these families have what they need to endure short- and long-term stays while focusing on what truly matters: each other.
In our annual event, students create holiday cards that demonstrate the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation—and how there’s a hero inside all of us. Your sponsorship for the Holiday Card Art Contest helps our educational efforts reach those who are newly eligible to register as organ donors.
